1st Panhellenic CHEM-E-CAR Competition – Results and Highlights

The 1st Panhellenic CHEM-E-CAR Competition took place on Thursday, 30/05/2019, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. It was organized by the School of Chemical Engineering within the framework of the 12th Panhellenic Scientific Conference of Chemical Engineering.

Participants:

1 team, named “Prometheus”, from the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Patras

2 teams, named “TravΩltage” and “Underpressure” respectively, from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and

2 teams, named “Castor” and “Pollux” respectively, from the School of Chemical Engineering, National Technical University of Athens.

The target distance the vehicles (CHEM-E-CARs) had to cover was 22.67 m under load, 315 ml of water—values drawn on site, one hour before the race.

The 1st and 2nd places were won, respectively, by the two “twin” teams from the NTUA School of Chemical Engineering. The 3rd place was won by the team “Underpressure” from the Department of Chemical Engineering at AUTH.

Warm congratulations are due to all teams for the excellent preparation of their original vehicles and for their outstanding spirit of cooperation and sportsmanship. You can see detailed race results in the results sheet.

Special congratulations to the twin teams “Castor” and “Pollux” for their victory. The two teams consist of the following students:

Ilias Vassos, Stelina Voulgaropoulou, Christos Bitsanis, Galateia Rigou, Grigoris Tatsis, Dimitris Tsagkalakis, Marina Spilioti, Haris Tsoukalas.

The two teams will form a single team to represent Greece in the Chem-E-Car Competition® to be held on November 10, 2019, in Orlando, USA. The NTUA School of Chemical Engineering wishes them successful preparation and the best of luck in the final competition in Orlando.
