Paris Papavasileiou and Geremy Loachamin Suntaxi, PhD candidates jointly supervised by the NTUA School of Chemical Engineering and the University of Luxembourg — Supervising Professors: A. G. Boudouvis and S. P. A. Bordas — together with Dr. Eleni Koronaki, Laboratory Teaching Staff member of the NTUA School of Chemical Engineering, were awarded by the FNR (Fonds National de la Recherche) Luxembourg with the “Outstanding Scientific Achievement” award, as members of an interdisciplinary team from the University of Luxembourg and the advanced materials company Ceratizit.
The award was presented for the development of hybrid computational methods combining equations with data science, which led to significant improvements in industrial coating production using the Chemical Vapor Deposition method. The research was funded by FNR Luxembourg through two research projects.
The award ceremony took place on October 17, 2024, and the award was presented by Luxembourg’s Minister for Higher Education and Digitalisation, Stéphanie Obertin.
