The Unit of Environmental Science and Technology, established 40 years ago, is an Educational and Research Laboratory affiliated with the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece’s oldest and most prestigious educational institution in the realm of Technology.
UEST has successfully undertaken more than 200 EU and nationally funded projects, including H2020, LIFE ENV & CLIMATE, LIFE 3rd Countries, Twinning, MEDA-Water projects, and PRIMA, in close collaboration with academic and research institutions, public and local authorities, SMEs, and other international organizations.
UEST’s excellence in planning and implementing innovative projects has been recognized by the EU Commission, having received the first Green Award for its LIFE SOL-BRINE project, voted as the best LIFE Environment project for the 25-year period of the EU LIFE Programme among over 4,000 LIFE projects.
UEST has a long-term partnership with the European Environment Agency and the European Topic Centre on Waste and Material Flows. UEST organizes annually the International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management, which aims to strengthen the link between applied research and industry, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas.
