Brief CV

Costas Charitidis is a Professor in the School of Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and Director of the Laboratory of Advanced, Composite, Nano Materials & Nanotechnology (R-NanoLab). He also serves as Vice-President of the Scientific Board of the Hellenic Foundation for Research & Innovation (HFRI).

He was elected Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering at NTUA for the period 2017–2019. From 2010 to 2016, he served as Director of Section III: Materials Science & Engineering of the School, and since 2011, he has been Director of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate (MSc) Program in Materials Science & Technology at NTUA.

Prof. Charitidis has over 25 years of experience in the fields of Materials Science and Nanotechnology, including carbon-based materials and nanotechnology safety. He has extensive R&D experience through collaborations with international research centers and has participated in more than 70 European and National funded projects, serving as Scientific Coordinator in many of them (notably within FP7 and Horizon 2020 frameworks in Nanotechnologies, Advanced Materials, Advanced Manufacturing and Processing, and Resource-Efficient Economy).
He acts as a referee for 85 international scientific journals and is the author of several scientific books, book chapters, and more than 400 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings, which have been cited over 9,100 times (h-index: 46). He has supervised 15 PhD theses and has served as a member of the examining committee for more than 60 PhD theses.
