Dr. Charalampos Sarimveis is a Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens and the head of the Automatic Control and Informatics Unit. He received his diploma in Chemical Engineering from the School of Chemical Engineering of the NTUA in 1990, and then went on to Texas A&M University in the USA, where he earned an M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 1992 and a Ph.D. in 1995, specializing in computational intelligence and automatic control. After completing his military service, he worked in the industry from 1997 to 2000, specifically at Colgate Palmolive SA and American Process Inc. He has been working at the School of Chemical Engineering of the NTUA since 2000, starting as a Lecturer and progressing through all ranks to be elected Professor in 2016. Since October 2022, His research interests focus on control theory and its applications, mathematical modelling and optimisation, computational intelligence and machine learning, data mining and analysis, chemoinformatics and bioinformatics. His research work includes 137 publications in scientific journals, 6 book chapters, and over 150 scientific papers and lectures at conferences. His work is recognized in the international scientific community, as evidenced by over 5400 citations (excluding self-citations), h-index: 43 (Source: Scopus). He has also served as a reviewer for more than 45 scientific journals and numerous Greek and international conferences. He has participated in many conference committees as a member of the organizing or scientific committee. He has also participated in 12 national and 14 European research projects , in most of the with the role of the PI.
