Brief CV

Stergios Vakalis is a newly appointed Assistant Professor of Energy Processes at the School of Chemical Engineering, National Technical University of Athens. Stergios works primarily on energy analysis, thermochemical production of biofuels and modeling of energy processes. He is also a member of the Editorial Board for the academic journal Nature Scientific reports (Springer), and a member of the Committee of the Global Waste-to-Energy Research and Technology Council – WtERT®. Previously, he was an Associate Professor of “Low Carbon Energy Technologies” at the Department of Environment, University of the Aegean and Director of the Energy Management Laboratory.

He studied Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Crete and got an MSc in Sustainable Resource Management from the Technical University of Munich. He received his PhD in Sustainable Energy and Technologies at the  Free University of Bolzano for his doctoral dissertation on biomass gasification.
