Course Description

The aim of the course is:
  • To show students the complex nature of modern developmental, technological environmental problems, and to familiarize them with the need for multidisciplinary and integrated approach, research and treatment.
  • Bring students in touch with the real dilemmas they will face after their graduation, many of which are not solely located in the technological field.
  • Provide the theoretical background for analyzing these problems.
  • To provide a learning environment where the student will not only attend presentations, but will also try to get a well-documented position.
Units included: theoretical background and tools related to sustainable development and critical thinking, environmental and development policies, management and technological tools. The role of an Engineer in the confrontation between environment and development. Areas of interest that are analyzed: global climate change, lignite gas and alternative energy - technological and environmental approaches, environment as an economic activity - a second life for former industrial sites, waste management - waste recycling, the role of justice and environmental development, sustainable mobility.
